As well as
international, many of his guests are local residents living in the
greater Edmonton region, interested in learning about the incredible
outdoor recreation opportunities just half an hour from Alberta's
capital city.
Wayne holds
a Province of Alberta operating authority to provide wildlife, bird
watching, hiking and nature tours within the Cooking Lake - Blackfoot
Grazing, Wildlife and Provincial Recreation Area and a Parks Canada
outdoor activities license for Elk Island National Park.
He is a strong
promoter of minimal impact natural area touring activities. Certified
in First Aid, Wayne has served as a Community Volunteer Fire Fighter
and has received training in structural fire fighting and wildland
fire supression.
An experienced
Coureur du Bois cross country skier, Wayne is a volunteer instructor
in the Alberta Association for Disabled Skiers nordic skiing program.
He is an active Member of the Friends of Blackfoot Society, a non-profit
Parks organization dedicated to the protection, heritage appreciation,
and enjoyment of the Cooking Lake - Blackfoot Provincial Recreation
Area.
He has a professional
background in corporate and commercial financing and community economic
development, and has contributed to environmental discussions like
the Calgary Herald's ' Our FUTURE ' series, issue 3 ... "our
beautiful backyard".
He
has received significant awards of recognition of his skills, dedication
to customer service, market development and environmental commitment
from Frommer's International Travel Guide, Edmonton Tourism, the Economic
Developers' Association of Canada and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.
